Locations and Hours

As of Monday, March 16, 2020 all facilities of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine are temporarily closed to the public in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

National Academy of Sciences Building

2101 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C.
Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Photo ID required. Closed weekends and holidays.
Closed until further notice due to the pandemic.

Although the NAS Building is closed, members of the public with proof of full COVID-19 vaccination can make reservations to visit the building and see the special exhibitions on view.

Prior to visiting the NAS Building, download the free NAS Great Hall iPad App from iTunes. Don't have an iPad? You can check one out during your visit from the NAS Building security desk. You will need to leave a government issued photo ID with security.

500 Fifth St., N.W., Washington, D.C.
Hours: Lobby accessible to the public 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Photo ID required. Closed weekends and holidays.
