Space Science Week 2025 Keynote Public Lecture

This special evening event on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, 6:30 p.m. will feature a conversation between physicist Kip Thorne and artist Lia Halloran focusing on their project “The Warped Side of Our Universe: An Odyssey Through Black Holes, Wormholes, Time Travel, and Gravitational Waves.” The conversation will be moderated by Taras W. Matla, Director, University of Maryland Art Gallery, College Park. This engaging dialogue will blend Thorne’s scientific insights with Halloran’s artistic interpretations, using poetry and paintings to make complex astrophysical concepts more accessible. Their work delves into profound questions about the universe’s origins and the nature of time and space.

Visitors will have an opportunity to see their exhibition, “Warped Side,” in the Upstairs Gallery before and after the lecture.
