Join Cultural Programs of the National Academy of Sciences (CPNAS) and the Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center (SEEC) for a day of family fun. Visitors will have an opportunity to explore Igniting the Imagination: Selections from the Collection of the Mazza Museum, an exhibition featuring original artwork from picture books relating to science, engineering, mathematics, and medicine.

Visitors can participate in a variety of readings and hands-on activities based upon the artwork and books. Throughout the day, participants can make a city construction site, dissect a log, play with objects from nature, and make a balloon rocket. Children will make connections to the sciences through literature, illustrations, and hands-on activities. Artist and illustrator Patrick O'Brien will give a special presentation about his work. Join us in the exhibition space for book readings.
